A Tribute to Charles Appling

Charles Appling passed from this life on June 25, 2026. Charlie was a well-known banker who started his career at Dial Finance in 1964. He worked in the Oklahoma banking industry for over 50 years at FNB Bethany, FNB Rush Springs, FSB Lone Wolf and Southwest State Bank Sentinel.

Charlie had a long relationship with The Bankers Bank. He sat on the Board of Directors for three terms between 1992 and 2015, serving as Chairman twice, and was the proud father of TBB’s President and CEO, Troy Appling. Golf was one of Charlie’s favorite pastimes; he played in the first TBB golf tournament in 1988 and every one since until the 37th annual tournament this year.

Charlie’s joy of life, stories, and his presence will be greatly missed.
